WHO ARE WE?

Experimental's been a long time coming for me (Bradley) after roughly twenty years of working in and now researching the coffee industry. I launched Experimental in late 2024 to address a gap in the industry: farming practices had advanced to the point where everyday drinkers were thirtsy for more information, and transparency was needed more than ever to trace the flow of money. Along the way we've shaped Experimental into much more than a coffee company. It's a community of people who are passionate about learning, coffee, and making the world a little bit better.

WHY EXPERIMENTAL?

You deserve great coffee and farmers deserve great pay. It's that simple.

TRANSPARENCY

Many farmers do not bring in enough revenue to cover production costs, let alone thrive financially. This is unacceptable. We believe price transparency is one way to change this. To that end, we make two guarantees about how we will use your money: First, we will always tell you the price we pay ($/lb) for green. Second, we will only source coffee where more than 70% of the green price goes directly to farmers.

PRODUCER DIVERSITY

We're just as excited as you about access to the most righteous, highest quality, cutting-edge green. The reality, however, is that this limits us to a select group of producers; many of these folks are doing well already. We won't change the game by only supporting these farmers. And let us be clear: We will source coffee from these producers. We also want to diversify your experiences and deliver the same or higher quality coffee while also making the world a better place. By working with farmers who are lesser known, we can do that.

GREEN QUALITY

We only source high-quality green: coffee with few defects, from recent harvests. And because there's no point in sourcing good green if you're going to store it poorly, we vacuum seal all of our green coffee and store it in a climate controlled environment.

COMMUNITY

Experimental isn't a coffee company, it's a community. Here's how: We have a subreddit where we communicate upcoming events, drops, and solicit feedback on how we're doing. We have a Discord where we're in daily communication about Experimental's moves and projects. And we're active on TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram to show you behind-the-scenes happenings.

SIP SOCIETY

We also host events through our sister company, Sip Society. If you're in Chicago, join us and let us know you're coming for member discounts.

WHY COMMUNITY?

There are thousands of coffee companies. Why give your money to any of them? Yeah, we want good coffee, but honestly that's the easiest part of this journey. Building a sustainable community that does good in the world—like paying farmers more and pushing for price transparency—is much more challenging. And we like challenges.

If you do too, join our subreddit, discord, and come to an event. We'd love to see you!
