AN EXPERIMENTAL SUBSCRIPTION

This is our subscription model. True to our name and how we do things, it's Experimental. Every month you'll receive coffee at cost plus 10%. Instead of our profit margin changing, what changes is the amount of coffee (grams) you receive each month. 

HOW IT WORKS

• You pay $20 (shipping included)
• We source a coffee with the subscription revenue that you and fellow subscribers vote on
• Depending on the cost of the green and our fixed costs, you receive a variable amount (grams) of that coffee
  

AN EXAMPLE: EXP012

EXP012 will be our first subscription coffee and it's a nice example to use.

• Our fixed costs per bag (incl. shipping) are roughly $10
• EXP012 costs $10/lb

This works out to be $8ish of green per subscriber (cost plus ten), which is about 0.7lb of roasted coffee (adjusting for roast loss). That's 11oz or 308g of coffee, which is what each subscriber will receive for the EXP012 drop.

WHY ONLY 10 PERCENT?

We believe a subscription-style drop model is our way to change the game by putting you more in control of where your money goes. To start, the subscription is for folks who have made Experimental possible. As we progress through 2026, we'll expand the subscription and increase our margins for those who join us later. Consider this a subsidized beta test.

WHAT'S THE CATCH?

We only see one: You don't know what coffee you're gonna get, although you do get a vote. That's part of the experiment. You can expect coffees that push the edge of processing and unfamiliar varietals, but there's no guarantee that you'll love them. As we scale, we may need to adjust the margin. Your subscription price won't change; the amount of coffee you receive will. We'll obviously communicate this far in advance. 

AN EXPERIMENTAL ROADMAP

In January 2026 we will open the subscription to an invite-only group of 25 people. In March, after we work out the kinks, we will double the invite to 50. When we do, we will source two different coffees—because one group of 25 subscribers covers the cost of one bag of experimental green coffee (~$300-500). In May, we will double it again to 100. We will then add another coffee into mix. Depending on logistics, we'll add a third or fourth coffee. We will then exit this early phase of the experiment and open it to everyone at a higher margin.
